Pichola Lake

Pichola Lake is one of the beautiful, pristine artificial freshwater lakes with the perfect backdrop of green Aravali Hills. This was built by Pichhu Banjara in 1362 during the ruling period of Maharana Lakha and has a width of 2 miles, length of 3 miles, and a depth of 30 feet.

It is enveloped by temples, lofty palaces, bathing ghats, and elevated gardens on all its sides. The Lake Palace hotel, which is also one of the tourist attractions is situated in one of the islands of the lake.

City Palace

 It is located on the eastern banks of Pichola Lake and a blend of Rajasthani, European, Chinese and Mughal architecture. This palace has many other attractions like the Monsoon Palace, Jag Mandir, Jagdish Temple, Lake Palace, and Neemach Mata Temple.

City Palace Udaipur

This palace was built completely with marble and granite with the beautiful appeal of marble, mirror, silver, inlay work, and wall paintings.

Sajjan Garh (Monsoon Palace)

Sajjan Garh Udaipur

Jagdish Temple

 The Jagdish Temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is three-storied is about 75 feet high, and 150 meters away from the City Palace. It can be seen in the skyline of Udaipur. For its construction and completion, 1.5 Million rupees were spent.

The temple was built in Indo-Aryan style, with lush halls, carved ceilings, and pillars. The dome of the temple is designed with sculptures of musicians, dancers, elephants, and horsemen.

The idol of Lord Vishnu was carved out of a single piece of black stone, making it a Celestial sight. A brass Garud (half eagle half human), greets at the entrance giving the impression of guiding the deity. The idols of Lord Shiva, Ganesh, Goddess Shakti, and Sun God are other attractions.

Saheliyon Ki Bari

Saheliyon Ki Bari is a garden which has ample natural beauty of fountains, a museum and marble elephants. The garden is on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake and was built by the king Maharana Sangram Singh during the 18th Century.

He built the garden as a gift to his wife, the queen. The name Saheliyon Ki Bari means “Garden of maids” were royal women took to the garden when they wished to take rest.

Later on, Maharana Bhopal Singh, great-grandson of Maharana Sangram Singh had built fountains which were imported from England. The sculpted birds mounted on the top of the marble kiosks spurt water from their beaks, that Produce rain like effect.

Moti Magri

 Udaipur’s history is vast with all the culture of the Mewar dynasty. Among the many Mewar rulers, the most well-known warrior is Maharana Pratap, the warrior who brought immense glory to Mewars. The Maharana Pratap statue riding his beloved Arab horse Chetak, which is 11 feet high with a weight of 7 tonnes made entirely of bronze was built in 1948 by Maharana Bhagwat Singh. Chetak was badly wounded  but saved Maharana Pratap life during the battle, so memorial pays tribute to the courageous horse as well.

Moti Magari Udaipur

The Moti Mahal Museum having various painting including queen Padmini, swoop Sagar lake, The Japanese Rock Garden are near popular tourist spots. The Moti Magri is a good spot for photography and trekking.

Karni Mata Mandir

This temple is dedicated to female Hindu sage, Karni Mata. It is located on Machala Hills, near Deendayal Upadhyay Park. Being situated at the high point, it gives a panoramic view of Lake Pichola, Sajjangarh Fort, Lake Palace, Dudh Talai Park. you can reach temple either on foot or ropeway.

Karni Mata Madir

Karni Mata was born in 1387 AD in village Suwap in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. She was the seventh daughter in Charan family. She restored the life of her dead son and believed to be reincarnation of Goddess Durga. His son later incarnated as a rat and since then all her relatives take birth as a rat and live as a family. There are white rats in the temple, feeding them believe to bring luck and good fortune.
